Announcing our clergy support essay contest
The Contest
- The contest is open to clergy, any professional church worker, past or present, their friends, spouses, and children from any religious tradition.
Purpose
- To collect historical data for our clergy support archives
- To collect data to share on our web page to help others
- To gain ideas as to how we can help the Church improve the conflict process etc
Confidentiality
- All submissions will appear in edited form on www.clergysupport.ca
- No submission will be used in any way unless all pertinent details are erased by our panel. Names, places, etc for your protection and because of liability issues. The original copy of the essay will remain in our sealed archives.
- Contest Starts now and cutoff date will be the postal mark Dec 1/2010
- Prizes donated by the Clergy Support Network will be:
- 1st Prize: $1000.00
- 2nd Prize: $700.00
- 3rd Prize: $500.00
- 4th Prize: 10 prizes of $100.00
All entrants will be notified by Dec 15/2010.
Judges panel. Comprises clergy, clergy spouses, a lawyer (at general council rank), educator, and published author.
The Judges will rank the submissions based on the following criteria:
- Adherence to the story requirements (see below under "what we want")
- Quality of detail in the content
- Quality of Suggestions to bring justice to the process
- Quality of Bibliography
What we want?
- How the church hurt me or 'mine' stories past or present.
- Length - 1000 - 2500 words.
- Content should include:
- Few back ground paragraphs on the specific person involved.
- Historical development and context of the conflict.
- Discuss the unfair things that happened and by whom.
- What and how rules were changed and made up as 'they 'went along.
- The final results of the conflict process.
- Suggestions on how we can bring justice to the process.
- Close by attaching a bibliography of conflict literature on the subject such as books, journal articles that you read.
- Content not limited to the above.
